I think, I've gone away so long from all about investigative journalism.
The thought came when these two college students was talking about one of their seniors who did an investigation attempt about a particular topic somewhere in Yogyakarta. I happened to be in the same public transportation with them both.
I listened to them carefully, word by word. A feeling beyond description was appeared in deep inside my heart.
I am not trying to be melancholic. But, yeah ... I missed a thing that used to be a part of my life.
Back in college, I composed a thesis about investigative journalism, though I'd rather name it investigative reporting. It took me one year to finish, mostly used for searching for scientific and less-practical basis. It was pretty hard since the investigative reporting itself is a practical activity.
I didn't get a perfect A. But I was proud of myself for two reasons respectively. I was the first student of my faculty who makes a thesis about investigative journalism. I was also able to hold on to my idealism, the one that I don't purely have lately.
I think I have to search more about this investigative reporting thing since I know for sure that I still have the passion.
Someday, I'll be an investigate reporter. A freelance one, so I won't have this media capitalism's string attached to my idealism.
Someday.

Doing investigative Journalism was a challenging activity, it needs a good intrusion in fields you involved with and tools of theories for analyzes. The best shown by American reporters and its Pulitzer Prize, I thought you have that capital. Something I suggest for was a point of view. Perhaps this was a most critical point and for some reason differ between propaganda and real down earthly investigative reality. So, can you describe please yours?
13 th yl ada 1 frasa yg melekat di kepalaku: depth investigation news
Aku kira wartawan2 Amerika yg idealis mengerti benar meniti jalan antara idealisme & bias kapitalis pemilik media yg mengkooptasi kebenaran. Thomas L Friedman contoh yg lumayan :)
oh ya, mo jd wartawan lg? Aku doakan yayayaya. Sip :)

@Himawan
Bener banget ... point of view. Intinya, kalo investigative reporting itu pasti mengangkat topik kepentingan publik. Dan di situlah kesulitannya, karena kadang2 kita terlalu terjebak di dalamnya, jadi ga bisa thinking out of the box. Malah jadi melupakan azas praduga tak bersalah.
Fiuh! What a hard point of view!
@Sonny
Ntar, kalo gw dapat Pulitzer, mudah2an ga lupa nyebut nama Sonny. :D
